Adam Sandler, a popular actor, producer, musician and writer, was in Lexington for a stop on his “You’re My Best Friend” tour. Before taking the stage at Rupp Arena, Sandler visited the basketball teams’ practices at the Joe Craft Center and offered the players tickets to the show.

In return, Jaland Lowe, point guard for UK men’s basketball, gave Sandler a custom Kentucky jersey. The jersey was numbered 25 and had Sandler’s last name printed on the back.

Sandler wore the jersey during his show Thursday night. Several players attended the show and met Kevin James, another popular actor who has been an occasional guest on Sandler’s tour.

“It’s got some history. You’ve done alright,” Sandler said after receiving the jersey. “I can’t tell you thanks enough.”

Sandler visited a Kentucky swim and dive team practice as well.

Sandler’s “You’re My Best Friend” tour features stand-up comedy and musical performances. The tour began Sept. 5 in Jacksonville, Florida, and will visit more than 30 major cities across the U.S. and Canada.

Before his Wednesday show in Columbus, Ohio, Sandler stopped by the Ohio State men’s basketball team’s practice.

Sandler’s entertainment career has spanned decades, including popular 1990s movies “Happy Gilmore,” “Billy Madison” and “The Wedding Singer.”

He recently starred in the recent Netflix release of “Happy Gilmore 2.”
