Video of man tased during Kentucky middle school basketball game goes viral

A brawl on the court during a grade school basketball game in Kentucky is getting national attention.

The fight involving adults broke out during a basketball game between Emmalena and Carr Creek elementary schools in Knott County Thursday night, and one man was reportedly tased.

The game was being livestreamed on Facebook by the Hometown Sports Corner page at the time the fight occurred. The video shows two players down on the floor.

Adults quickly rushed onto the court, and as some men appeared to scuffle. An announcer can be heard saying, “here we go.”

“Ain’t no sense doing this. We’re going to get somebody hurt bad,” a voice says.

And then, as one man falls face down from a standing position: “They just tased Ryan.”

The man who was apparently tased was getting up when announcers said they were going to end the live feed of the basketball game.

“This game has got to come to an end,” one said.

The Hometown Sports Corner post had been viewed more than 55,000 times by Saturday afternoon.

Knott County Schools officials and law enforcement did not immediately comment on the incident.

Posts on Emmalena Elementary School’s Facebook page say Jan. 22 was championship game night in the Knott County basketball tournament.

Carr Creek was leading Emmalena 48-30 when the fight began.

The schools, which are 125 to 135 miles southeast of Lexington, serve students through eighth grade.
