Former Kentucky guard Kerr Kriisa arrested on federal charges
Former Kentucky guard Kerr Kriisa was arrested on federal charges last Friday and was being held at the Fayette County Detention Center, according to an email Sunday from Major Matt LeMonds to the Herald-Leader.
Additional information about the charges and the circumstances of his arrest were not immediately available.
Kriisa, originally from Estonia, was a guard at UK during the 2024-25 season. He appeared in nine games, averaging 4.4 points and 3.8 assists per game. After scoring eight points in Kentucky’s overtime victory over Gonzaga, he suffered a foot injury that ended his season.
Kentucky was Kriisa’s third stop during his six-year college basketball career. He played three seasons at Arizona and one at West Virginia before his season at Kentucky. He was granted an additional year of eligibility after his injury at Kentucky and closed his college career this past season at Cincinnati.
La Familia, Kentucky’s team in The Basketball Tournament, announced on X that Kriisa would no longer be playing for the team, referencing “allegations regarding” him.
Kriisa was set to make his TBT debut against The Ville, the University of Louisville team, July 18 at Memorial Coliseum.
Kriisa, 25, had signed with Estonian basketball team Tartu Ülikool Maks & Moorits for the 2026-27 season to return to his native country after six years in the United States.
