Broncos claim former UK running back Boom Williams off waivers
Former University of Kentucky running back Stanley “Boom” Williams wasn’t out of a job long.
Williams, who was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, was claimed by the Denver Broncos on Monday.
Williams ran for 1,170 yards and seven touchdowns for the Wildcats last season as a junior. After declaring early for the NFL Draft, he was not chosen this past May.
He’ll take the spot of running back Bernard Pierce, who was cut by the Broncos earlier in the day.
Williams played sparingly in the Bengals’ two preseason games so far. He had four carries for 11 yards.
