Seahawks waive former Kentucky wideout Chris Matthews
The Seattle Seahawks waived former University of Kentucky wide receiver Chris Matthews on Tuesday.
Matthews, a candidate earlier this year for Super Bowl MVP when he caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots, only had four catches for 54 yards in nine games this season.
Matthews also made a big play by recovering an onside kick in the NFC Championship game in the team’s win over the Green Bay Packers.
The Seahawks signed Kevin Smith, who played in college at Washington, from the practice squad to take Matthews’ place on the roster.
