Ravens sign former UK wideout Chris Matthews to practice squad
Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Chris Matthews, who came from obscurity to catch four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in last year’s Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, was signed to the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.
The Seattle Seahawks cut Matthews, who played in college at the University of Kentucky, last week.
“You might remember Chris from Seattle,” Coach John Harbaugh said. “He was waived by Seattle a week or two ago, so he’s going to be on the practice squad for us. I’m sure he’s planning and hoping to earn playing time in the near future.”
Matthews had four catches for 54 yards in nine games this season for Seattle.
