Pacers officially sign Alex Poythress to their training camp roster
The Indiana Pacers announced Monday that they have signed former Kentucky star Alex Poythress.
Poythress played four seasons at UK where he averaged 10.2 points and 6.0 rebounds. The 6-foot-8 forward played for Orlando during this year’s summer league.
Poythress averaged five points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game for one of Orlando’s two summer squads.
“I’m going to be a defensive specialist coming in,” Poythress said earlier this month of what he thought could help him eventually earn a spot on an NBA roster. “If I can guard most positions (on the floor), that would be a good role for me.”
Yahoo Sports originally reported on Aug. 12 that Poythress would sign with the Pacers.
▪ The Pacers also added guard Julyan Stone. He has played three seasons in the NBA with Denver and Toronto, averaging 1.3 points and 1.1 assists. The 6-foot-6 UTEP product also has spent time in the NBA D-League.
Poythress participated in a pre-draft workout with the #Pacers earlier this summer. Here's my interview with him: https://t.co/p2YfJpraPk
