Kentucky volleyball set for home opener in Bluegrass Battle

The University of Kentucky is already six games deep into its 2016 volleyball season but Wildcats fans will get their first look at the team at home this weekend.

Kentucky (3-3) plays host to its annual Bluegrass Battle on Friday and Saturday in Memorial Coliseum.

The six-match round-robin event begins with a pair of games during the day Friday before the Wildcats take the court for their home opener against Marquette at 7:30 p.m. The Cats play a doubleheader on Saturday, taking on Virginia at 11 a.m. and Saint Louis at 7:30 p.m.

Kentucky (3-3) has opened the season with victories over Wyoming, Purdue and Creighton and losses to Washington State, Southern California and Northern Iowa.

Friday

11 a.m.: Saint Louis (1-6) vs. Marquette (4-2)

5 p.m.: Saint Louis vs. Virginia (3-3)

7:30 p.m.: Kentucky (3-3) vs. Marquette

Saturday

11 a.m.: Kentucky vs. Virginia

5 p.m.: Marquette vs. Virginia

7:30 p.m.: Kentucky vs. Saint Louis
