UK women’s soccer team beats EKU for new coach’s first career win
Senior forward Tanya Samarzich scored two goals to lead the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Eastern Kentucky in the Cats’ home opener on Thursday night.
It also was the first victory for new coach Ian Carry after losses to Wisconsin and Marquette.

Sophomore forward Foster Ignoffo gave the Cats a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game.
Samarzich added second-half goals in the 50th and 68th minutes.
EKU avoided the shutout on Jordan Foster’s goal in the 83rd minute.
The next match for Kentucky (1-2) is Sunday at home against Wyoming.
