Former UK tennis star Eric Quigley wins his first title in a pro event
Former University of Kentucky tennis star Eric Quigley earned his first title in an ATP Challenger or ITF Futures Tour event with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory against Dimitar Kutrovsky of Bulgaria on Sunday in Decatur, Ill.
Quigley, seeded sixth in the ITF Futures tournament, capitalized on his serve with nine aces to the unseeded Kutrovsky's three, while recording three breaks of serve.
The South Oldham High School graduate was only forced to three sets once in the five matches he played.
Quigley defeated second-seeded Vijayant Malik of India 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the semifinals.
