Kentucky loads up 2025 baseball schedule in pursuit of return trip to College World Series
The University of Kentucky baseball team gets to experience life as the hunted instead of the hunter for the first time in 2025.
In doing so, the Wildcats have not made things easy on themselves.
Kentucky, coming off the first College World Series appearance in program history, announced a 2025 schedule on Friday that includes games against 11 teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season, including two that joined UK in Omaha.
On top of that, the Wildcats’ 53-game schedule includes dates against in-state rivals Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky and Western Kentucky.
UK has lined up 29 home games for its fans at Kentucky Proud Park with the remaining 24 contests on the road.
Kentucky will face 10 of the newly expanded Southeastern Conference’s 15 other teams in 2025.
At home, the Cats play three-game SEC series against Auburn, Mississippi, South Carolina and league newcomers Oklahoma and Texas.
On the road, UK will play three-game conference series versus defending national champion Tennessee along with Georgia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and 2024 CWS participant Texas A&M.
In addition to the Volunteers and Aggies, UK’s 11 NCAA Tournament foes include Evansville, Georgia, Mississippi State, Northern Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Vanderbilt and Wofford.
Kentucky’s annual rivalry games against Louisville come April 8 in the Derby City and April 22 at Kentucky Proud Park.
The Wildcats are preparing to embark on their ninth year under head coach Nick Mingione, who was voted national coach of the year last season.
Kentucky finished 46-16 in 2024, tying Tennessee for the SEC regular season championship with a 22-8 league mark.
