Rupp Arena to unveil new basketball court design at Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness
The University of Kentucky basketball floor in Rupp Arena is getting a new paint job.
On its Twitter account on Wednesday, Rupp Arena posted a video showing the progress made so far.
The court’s new design will be revealed to fans during Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness celebration of the opening of basketball practice on Oct. 14.

The freshly refinished floor is one of numerous upgrades taking place in Rupp this summer and fall.
The most notable change will be the new scoreboard, to be hung over center court.
The new scoreboard will be 27 feet tall and 34 feet wide. It will have viewing screens on four sides and will weigh 43,524 pounds.
The new LED screens will give the arena more advertising real estate, said Bill Owen, president and CEO of Lexington Center Corp., which oversees Rupp Arena.
“It also gives us more opportunity to directly engage the fans,” Owen told the Herald-Leader’s Beth Musgrave earlier this year. “It really adds excitement to an event.”
