Nate Sestina returns to action for Kentucky. See how he did against Utah.
University of Kentucky forward Nate Sestina returned to the lineup for the Wildcats on Wednesday night for the first time since breaking his left wrist last month.
The 6-foot-9 Sestina was averaging 7.3 points and 7.2 rebounds through UK’s first six games when he was hurt during practice on Nov. 26 prior to Kentucky’s game against UAB on Nov. 29. Sestina broke his wrist when knocked to the floor on a layup attempt, Calipari said.
Sestina, a graduate transfer from Bucknell, entered Wednesday night’s game against Utah with 15:26 remaining in the first half and Kentucky trailing 10-4.
Wildcats Coach John Calipari went with a starting lineup of Nick Richards, EJ Montomgery, Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey against the Utes in the Neon Hoops Showcase at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Sestina played nine minutes in sixth-ranked Kentucky’s 69-66 loss to the Utes. He finished with zero points, one rebound and one turnover and attempted only one shot.
Kentucky will remain in Las Vegas the rest of this week in preparation for Saturday’s game there against No. 5 Ohio State.
