Memorial for Kentucky basketball great Mike Pratt set for Aug. 5. Fans welcome to attend.
A public memorial service for Kentucky basketball great Mike Pratt will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, and UK fans are welcome to attend.
Pratt played for the Wildcats from 1967-70 and began a two-decade run as color analyst on the team’s radio broadcasts in 2001.
He died last month at age 73 after a long battle with cancer.
The memorial in his honor will feature several guest speakers, including Kentucky teammates Dan Issel and Jimmy Dan Conner, as well as UK Coach John Calipari.
Tom Leach, who was Pratt’s radio partner on the UK Sports Network, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event.
Those wishing to attend the public memorial can enter Memorial Coliseum through the entrances adjacent to Lexington Avenue beginning at noon. Parking will be available at the Joe Craft Center/Memorial Coliseum lot, or at the Cornerstone parking garage (at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Limestone Drive) for $2 per hour.
Pratt’s family has asked for donations to be sent to Kentuckiana Friends of V in his honor.
