Amari Williams appears on cereal box he promoted to popularity during NCAA Tournament

The collaboration Kentucky men’s basketball fans have been asking for has come to fruition.

On Friday former UK men’s basketball player Amari Williams posted a photo of himself appearing on a box of Weetabix to his Instagram. Williams said he woke up a cereal legend and thought the box would look good on retail shelves.

Weetabix rapidly rose in popularity after getting a shout out from Williams following UK’s second round victory over Illinois. Williams finished the game with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks and a steal, all while only committing one turnover, and Coach Mark Pope attributed Williams’ performance to his pregame Weetabix meal.

Williams previously said his pregame breakfast before the first round game against Troy was four pieces of toast. His teammates thought that wasn’t enough for the seven-footer, so a member of UK’s staff found an international store in Milwaukee and bought Williams some Weetabix.

“It definitely tastes amazing, and it gives you a lot of energy throughout the day, for sure,” Williams said after defeating Illinois.

Weetabix is a wholegrain, biscuit-shaped cereal from the United Kingdom high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Williams said he ate the cereal growing up in England.

Weetabix climbed the list Amazon’s best-selling chart after the recognition from Williams. As of Friday afternoon the cereal is still No. 13 on the list.
