Which SEC basketball teams have made big moves in the transfer portal?

While the ebbs and flows of the NCAA transfer portal continue to remake the men’s college basketball landscape, plenty of consequential activity has already taken place.

And lots of it has occurred in the SEC.

The 16-school league boasts the reigning national champions (Florida), two schools with new head coaches in place (Texas and Texas A&M) and a bevy of other storylines to monitor ahead of the 2025-26 season.

You’re probably already up to speed on the latest transfer portal dealings for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats.

But what about the other 15 teams in the SEC?

Here’s a school-by-school look at what SEC teams have done so far this offseason in the transfer portal.

Schools are listed in the order of where they finished in the 2025 SEC men’s basketball standings. All transfer portal movement and player rankings are from 247Sports.

Auburn

Head coach: Bruce Pearl.

2024-25 record: 32-6 overall (15-3 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Florida in Final Four.

Transfers out: Jahki Howard.

Transfers in: Keyshawn Hall (Central Florida), KeShawn Murphy (Mississippi State), Kevin Overton (Texas Tech), Abdul Bashir (Casper College), Emeka Opurum (Butler Community College).

Notable: Both Hall and Murphy are top-40 portal additions for the Tigers this offseason. Howard played in 21 games off the bench for the Tigers’ Final Four squad last season.

The Tigers are also adding a pair of highly-rated junior college transfers in Bashir and Opurum.

Florida

Head coach: Todd Golden.

2024-25 record: 36-4 overall (14-4 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Won national championship.

Transfers out: N/A.

Transfers in: Xaivian Lee (Princeton).

Notable: There’s been little portal activity so far for the Gators, who stormed through March to win both the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

But the one move Florida has made is significant. Lee, a 6-foot-4 guard from Toronto, averaged 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game for Princeton last season.

Alabama

Head coach: Nate Oats.

2024-25 record: 28-9 overall (13-5 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Duke in Elite Eight.

Transfers out: Naas Cunningham, Derrion Reid, Jarin Stevenson (North Carolina), Mouhamed Dioubate (Kentucky).

Transfers in: Noah Williamson (Bucknell), Taylor Bol Bowen (Florida State), Jalil Bethea (Miami).

Notable: Among the newcomers for Alabama next season will be Bol Bowen, a former Florida State forward who took a recruiting visit to Kentucky from the transfer portal. Bethea was a McDonald’s All-American and a five-star high school recruit in the 2024 class.

Dioubate, who will stay in the SEC and transfer from the Crimson Tide to Kentucky, came off the bench in all 37 games for Alabama last season.

Tennessee

Head coach: Rick Barnes.

2024-25 record: 30-8 overall (12-6 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Houston in Elite Eight.

Transfers out: N/A.

Transfers in: Jaylen Carey (Vanderbilt), Ja’Kobi Gillespie (Maryland).

Notable: There hasn’t been much transfer portal activity for the Volunteers so far this offseason, but what has taken place has been significant.

This includes the arrival of Gillespie, a former Belmont and Maryland guard who is the No. 11 player in the portal.

Texas A&M

Head coach: Bucky McMillan.

2024-25 record: 23-11 overall (11-7 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Michigan in round of 32.

Transfers out: Rob Dockery (Lipscomb), Solomon Washington (Maryland), Pharrel Payne (Maryland), George Turkson Jr. (Maryland), Andre Mills (Maryland).

Transfers in: Jacari Lane (North Alabama).

Notable: So far, four former Aggies have opted to follow former head coach Buzz Williams from Texas A&M to Maryland. Payne, a center, is the No. 27-ranked player in the portal.

The only transfer portal arrival so far for new head coach McMillan is Lane, who averaged 17.3 points per game last season at North Alabama.

Kentucky

Head coach: Mark Pope.

2024-25 record: 24-12 overall (10-8 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Tennessee in Sweet 16.

Transfers out: Kerr Kriisa (Cincinnati).

Transfers in: Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama), Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh), Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State), Kam Williams (Tulane).

Notable: Pope and company have done heavy work in the portal so far this offseason, with the headline additions being former Arizona State big man Quaintance — a onetime UK signee in high school under former head coach John Calipari — and Lowe, an All-ACC guard at Pittsburgh.

Quaintance is the No. 10-ranked player in the portal, and Lowe is No. 32.

Chris Beard and Ole Miss went 24-12 overall last season and reached the Sweet 16 for only the second time in program history.

Ole Miss

Head coach: Chris Beard.

2024-25 record: 24-12 overall (10-8 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Michigan State in Sweet 16.

Transfers out: TJ Caldwell, John Bol (Central Florida).

Transfers in: Corey Chest (LSU), AJ Storr (Kansas), Koren Johnson (Louisville).

Notable: Beard and the Rebels landed a well-known prospect from the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon when Storr — the former St. John’s, Wisconsin and Kansas guard — committed to Ole Miss. He joins former LSU forward Chest and former Washington and Louisville guard Johnson as the portal adds so far this offseason for Ole Miss, which is fresh off a surprise run to the Sweet 16.

Missouri

Head coach: Dennis Gates.

2024-25 record: 22-12 overall (10-8 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Drake in round of 64.

Transfers out: Aidan Shaw (Boston College).

Transfers in: Luke Northweather (Oklahoma), Shawn Phillips (Arizona State), Jevon Porter (Loyola Marymount), Sebastian Mack (UCLA).

Notable: Gates and the Tigers bounced back well from a winless SEC season in 2023-24 to make the NCAA Tournament last season, and their biggest portal addition so far for next season is Mack, the former UCLA guard who has averaged 10.8 points per game for his college career.

Mississippi State

Head coach: Chris Jans.

2024-25 record: 21-13 overall (8-10 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Baylor in the round of 64.

Transfers out: Kanye Clary (Oklahoma State), Riley Kugel (Central Florida), Michael Nwoko (LSU), KeShawn Murphy (Auburn).

Transfers in: Ja’Borri McGhee (UAB), Sam Walters (Michigan).

Notable: Mississippi State will lose some significant production via the portal this offseason. Leading the way in this regard is Murphy — a small forward who averaged 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game off the bench for the Bulldogs last season — and Nwoko, who was Mississippi State’s starting center last season.

Transfers out: Zvonimir Ivisic (Illinois).

Transfers in: Nick Pringle (South Carolina), Malique Ewin (Florida State).

Notable: Arkansas’ transfer portal activity sparked to life Monday afternoon, with former Alabama and South Carolina big man Pringle and former Florida State big man Ewin both committing to Calipari and the Hogs.

The only outgoing portal activity so far for the Hogs has been the departure of Ivisic, a former UK center who will now play with his twin brother, Tomislav, at Illinois.

Georgia

Head coach: Mike White.

2024-25 record: 20-13 overall (8-10 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Gonzaga in the round of 64.

Transfers out: Savo Drezgic, De’Shayne Montgomery (Dayton), RJ Godfrey (Clemson), Silas Demary Jr. (UConn).

Transfers in: Jeremiah Wilkinson (California), Kanon Catchings (BYU).

Notable: The loss of Demary is sure to hurt White’s program: Demary was a two-year starter for UGA and averaged 13.5 points, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game last season.

The Bulldogs are bringing in two proven college players in Catchings and Wilkinson, though. Catchings averaged 7.2 points in 17.5 minutes per game for BYU last season, while shooting 35% on 3-pointers. Wilkinson averaged 15.1 points per game in mainly a bench role at Cal last season.

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Saint Mary’s in the round of 64.

Transfers out: MJ Collins, Jaylen Carey (Tennessee), Jason Edwards (Providence).

Transfers in: Mason Nicholson (Jacksonville State), Mike James (North Carolina State), Jalen Washington (North Carolina), Frankie Collins (TCU).

Notable: After an impressive debut season as the Vanderbilt head coach, Byington will have to replace his top scorer from the 2024-25 season after Edwards (17.0 points per game) departed via the transfer portal for Providence.

Among the newcomers for the Commodores will be former Louisville player Mike James.

Oklahoma

Head coach: Porter Moser.

2024-25 record: 20-14 overall (6-12 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to UConn in the round of 64.

Transfers out: Duke Miles, Luke Northweather (Missouri).

Transfers in: Tae Davis (Notre Dame), Nijel Pack (Miami).

Notable: Moser has done some good work in the portal so far for the Sooners, with Davis — the No. 58 player in the portal — and Pack (No. 35) on their respective ways to Norman.

Texas

Head coach: Sean Miller.

2024-25 record: 19-16 overall (6-12 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Lost to Xavier in the First Four.

Transfers out: Devon Pryor (Oregon).

Transfers in: Camden Heide (Purdue), Lassina Traore (Xavier), Matas Vokietaitis (Florida Atlantic), Dailyn Swain (Xavier).

Notable: New Texas head coach Sean Miller is set to bring two players with him from his most recent stop at Xavier, a duo headlined by Swain, who averaged 11 points per game as a starter for the Musketeers last season.

LSU

Head coach: Matt McMahon

2024-25 record: 14-18 overall (3-15 in SEC).

2025 NCAA Tournament performance: Did not qualify.

Transfers out: Mike Williams, Tyrell Ward, Vyctorius Miller (Oklahoma State), Corey Chest (Ole Miss), Daimion Collins (South Florida).

Transfers in: Max Mackinnon (Portland), Michael Nwoko (Mississippi State), Rashad King (Northeastern), Marquel Sutton (Omaha), Dedan Thomas (UNLV).

Notable: LSU was tabbed as a team to watch in the transfer portal this offseason, and McMahon’s Tigers have added plenty of firepower so far.

This includes a huge pickup in the form of Thomas, who averaged 15.6 points per game last season at hometown UNLV.

Ex-Cat Collins, who became a starter last season at LSU, will finish his college career at South Florida.

Transfers out: Jamarii Thomas, Nick Pringle (Arkansas), Zachary Davis (Memphis).

Transfers in: Kobe Knox (South Florida), Elijah Strong (Boston College), Christ Essandoko (Providence), Meechie Johnson Jr. (Ohio State).

Notable: After a last-place finish in the SEC this past season, South Carolina has acquired an influx of talent via the transfer portal.

This group of incoming transfers includes Knox, a younger brother of ex-Cat Kevin Knox II. Another notable transfer portal add is Johnson, who previously played two seasons for the Gamecocks.

Former North Dakota guard Treysen Eaglestaff (18.9 points per game) backed off his transfer portal commitment to South Carolina on Wednesday morning.
