See stats from No. 9 Kentucky basketball’s exhibition win over No. 1 Purdue

As dress rehearsals go, it’s tough to top the way the Kentucky men’s basketball team started Friday night.

Mark Pope’s Wildcats, ranked No. 9 in the preseason Associated Press poll, looked the part in a 78-65 exhibition win over No. 1 Purdue at Rupp Arena.

The Cats got 15 points from freshman Jasper Johnson and 10 each from returnees Otega Oweh and Trent Noah in leading for 37 minutes and 20 seconds of the 40-minute preseason win. Alabama transfer Mouhamed Dioubate had eight points and nine rebounds.

Kentucky was just 9 for 29 from 3-point range, but it shot a combined 18 of 24 on layups and dunks. UK averaged 1.182 points per 100 possessions to Purdue’s 1.0.
