The Kentucky men’s basketball team will get its second crack at a first SEC win Wednesday, when it hosts Missouri at Rupp Arena.
The Wildcats (9-5, 0-1 SEC) are coming off an 89-74 loss at Alabama last Saturday. The Tigers (11-3) won their SEC opener Saturday, beating Florida 76-74 in Columbia, Missouri.
The win against the Gators, the No. 15 team in the KenPom.com efficiency ratings, was Missouri’s first this season against a team in the top 50 and its second against a team in the top 100. The Tigers’ losses this season have come to Notre Dame (No. 58 at KenPom), Kansas (No. 18) and Illinois (No. 8). The Jayhawks and Illini beat Missouri by a combined 63 points.
Kentucky is ranked No. 24 at KenPom despite its struggles against elite teams. The Wildcats are 2-5 against the KenPom top 30.
