  • UK basketball’s injury report for game against Vanderbilt includes three players.
  • Jaland Lowe, Jayden Quaintance and Kam Williams are all out for UK.
  • Kentucky is taking a five-game winning streak into matchup at Vandy.

Jayden Quaintance will miss his sixth straight game for Kentucky basketball due to swelling in his surgically repaired knee.

The sophomore big man joined junior point guard Jaland Lowe and sophomore wing Kam Williams in being listed as out on UK’s availability report ahead of Tuesday night’s game at No. 18 Vanderbilt.

Lowe is out for the season due to a right shoulder injury and Williams is out for the foreseeable future due to a broken foot.

This means Mark Pope’s Wildcats project to have only nine scholarship players available for the contest against the Commodores.

Kentucky (14-6, 5-2 SEC) brings a five-game winning streak into the game against Vandy (17-3, 4-3). UK’s current winning run has coincided with the absence of Quaintance, who has played in just four games this season.

A 6-foot-10 big who is projected as a lottery pick in this summer’s NBA draft, Quaintance hasn’t played for the Wildcats since a Jan. 7 home loss to Missouri, which he started.

As a freshman last season at Arizona State, Quaintance tore his ACL in February 2025. He underwent surgery for the torn ACL in March and was in the early stages of rehabbing the injury when he joined UK as an offseason transfer.

Quaintance made his Kentucky debut in a win over St. John’s on Dec. 20, scoring 10 points, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots in the game. But, he’s appeared in only three games since that debut, and each of those ensuing performances have been lackluster. Quaintance has combined for 10 points, 12 rebounds, one blocked shot and six turnovers in 49 minutes on the floor since the St. John’s game.

Last week, Pope continued to express optimism that Quaintance would return to game action.

“He’s making progress,” Pope said. “...He’s kind of going through the process, and hopefully he’ll be back soon.”

While Lowe and Quaintance have continued to make a positive impact for the Wildcats from their spots on the bench, player availability is beginning to become a real concern for Pope’s second UK squad.

With Lowe, Quaintance and Williams sidelined — along with freshman forward Braydon Hawthorne and junior center Reece Potter continuing to preserve their redshirt seasons — Kentucky is about to play its second straight game with just nine available scholarship players. The Wildcats pulled out a home win over Ole Miss on Saturday in these circumstances.

Mark Byington’s Vanderbilt team has two players listed on its availability report for Tuesday’s game. Senior guards Frankie Collins and Duke Miles are both out.

Miles had been initially listed as “questionable” on the injury report, which signified a 50% chance that he would play. But, Miles is out for the game.

Collins, who has been reportedly dealing with a meniscus injury, hasn’t played for the Commodores since a Dec. 17 win at Memphis, prior to the start of SEC play. Collins is averaging 7.8 points, 4.7 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game in nine appearances off the bench this season.

Miles has started 18 of Vanderbilt’s 20 games this season. He’s averaging 16.6 points and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 34.1% on 3-pointers. Miles is Vandy’s second-leading scorer, behind only star sophomore guard Tyler Tanner (17.4 points).

Miles is also a menace defensively, averaging an SEC-best 2.8 steals per game. That mark ranks in the top 10 nationally.
