  • After one season at UK, Jaland Lowe has found a new school in the NCAA transfer portal.
  • Lowe will play his fourth college season at Georgetown.
  • Lowe played in nine games for Kentucky during 2025-26 season due to a shoulder injury.

Former Kentucky basketball guard Jaland Lowe has chosen his next college basketball stop.

On Monday morning, Lowe committed to Georgetown from the NCAA transfer portal. On3’s Joe Tipton was the first to report Lowe’s commitment.

A 6-foot-1 point guard, Lowe began his college career with two productive seasons at Pittsburgh before transferring to Mark Pope’s Kentucky program this past offseason. Lowe was projected to be UK’s starting point guard for the 2025-26 season, but that didn’t come to fruition for the Wildcats.

Lowe suffered a right shoulder injury during Kentucky’s annual Blue-White Game in October, and that began an injury-plagued year for Lowe. After starting the regular season on the sidelines, Lowe only appeared in nine games for the Wildcats. He reinjured his right shoulder several times and underwent season-ending surgery on that shoulder in January.

Lowe is expected to receive a medical redshirt waiver from the NCAA, which would leave him with two remaining seasons of college eligibility.

According to 247Sports, Lowe was ranked as the No. 45 available transfer in the portal. He was the first player from the 2025-26 Kentucky team with remaining college eligibility to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley will be hoping Lowe can regain his pre-injury form next season.

As a sophomore at Pitt, Lowe averaged 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Across his nine appearances at Kentucky, Lowe averaged just 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

“I had to protect myself a lot. I couldn’t do a lot out there that I really wanted to do,” Lowe told the Herald-Leader in March during the SEC Tournament. “I couldn’t play defense how I wanted. Couldn’t play offense how I wanted. Just got to put myself in positions, just for my safety.”

Lowe joins a Georgetown program that hasn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2021.

The Hoyas defeated the Wildcats in an exhibition game in October in Rupp Arena, but Lowe didn’t play for the Wildcats in that contest.

Seven players from Kentucky’s 2025-26 team have entered the transfer portal this offseason. Lowe is the fifth player to commit to a new school from the portal.

He’s joined by senior guard Denzel Aberdeen (Florida), sophomore guard Collin Chandler (BYU), sophomore forward Andrija Jelavic (Ohio State) and junior forward Brandon Garrison (Alabama).

Freshman guard Jasper Johnson and junior forward Mouhamed Dioubate are still in the portal.

Jaland Lowe played only nine games for Kentucky during the 2025-26 season due to a series of right shoulder injuries that required season-ending surgery.
