  • At least 15 former UK players are on Summer League rosters in Las Vegas.
  • Jayden Quaintance, a top-rated 2026-27 ex-Cat, will not play due to knee.
  • Several ex-Cats have two-way deals or recent NBA contract changes for 2026-27.

Not so long ago, the NBA Summer League was must-see TV for Kentucky basketball fans.

Karl-Anthony Towns built some summer buzz in 2015. Two years later, second-year NBA standouts Trey Lyles and Devin Booker were Summer League’s top two scorers. And Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 19 points per game in 2018 were a sign of things to come.

The most highly regarded ex-Cat entering the NBA in 2026-27 won’t take part in Summer League. Jayden Quaintance, limited to four games in his only season at UK and still is dealing with issues stemming from knee surgery that ended his freshman year at Arizona State.

But while there’s no top-tier ex-Wildcat scheduled to participate this week in this year’s Summer League — which tips off Thursday in Las Vegas — there’s no shortage of UK connections.

At least 15 former UK players — including those who transferred out of the program during their college careers — are on Summer League rosters, including 10 whose final collegiate season came at Kentucky.

Rosters are subject to change, but here’s a look at the ex-Cats set to participate — and when and where to watch when they do.

Devin Askew and Koby Brea, Phoenix Suns

Brea, who played for Mark Pope’s first Kentucky team in 2024-25, signed a new two-way contract to return to the Suns, where he’ll split time between the NBA club and its G League affiliate. Askew, who played for five college programs in six seasons, is getting his first look at Summer League after closing out his collegiate career at Villanova.
