Four University of Kentucky basketball players spoke to fifth-graders at Cassidy Elementary School in Lexington on Thursday.

Dominique Hawkins, Alex Poythress, Dakari Johnson and Aaron Harrison encouraged the students to be persistent and resilient, and to put great value in education.

Each player read from a script to begin the 15-minute appearance. Then the UK players answered student questions during which they revealed their favorite sports other than basketball (Johnson said he played soccer as a child) and favorite classes (Hawkins and Poythress said math; Johnson and Harrison said communications).
