Kentucky vs. the field: Games left for each SEC basketball contender
The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team is alone in first place in the Southeastern Conference with three regular-season games remaining on the Wildcats’ schedule.
Entering play on Wednesday night, seven teams were mathematically within reach of tying or overtaking Kentucky for the lead, but time is running out. The regular season ends March 5, and the SEC Tournament begins March 9 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
If the regular season ended as things stood Wednesday morning, Kentucky would be the No. 1 seed in the tournament and play either Georgia or Alabama on Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m. EST.
Kentucky is seeking its 47th SEC regular-season championship and 29th league tournament title.
