Breaking down the SEC race with two games to play
The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team is tied for first place in the Southeastern Conference with two regular-season games remaining on the Wildcats’ schedule.
Five teams are mathematically eligible to win or tie for the championship entering the season’s final week. The regular season ends Saturday, and the SEC Tournament begins March 9 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
If the regular season ended as things stood Monday morning, Kentucky would be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and play either Alabama or Arkansas on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. EST.
Kentucky is seeking its 47th SEC regular-season championship and 29th league tournament title.
