Kentucky’s Murray named SEC Freshman of the Week
University of Kentucky guard Jamal Murray was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the fourth time on Monday.
Murray scored 23 points in a victory over Alabama on Tuesday and 33 in a loss at Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Murray, a native of Kitchener, Ontario, averaged 26.4 points per game during eight games in February.

With Saturday’s six three-pointers, Murray now holds the Kentucky single-season freshman record for threes with 91.
Saturday also was Murray’s 14th game this season with at least 20 points and his eighth in a row. It’s the longest UK streak since Jodie Meeks had nine consecutive 20-point games in 2008-09
His 14th 20-point game also tied the UK freshman record he now shares with Brandon Knight.
Murray has made at least one three-point shot in every game this season, the first player in program history to make a triple in each of his first 29 collegiate games.
Kentucky leads the league with nine weekly honors this season. In addition to Murray’s four, sophomore point guard Tyler Ulis has garnered three honors, while freshmen Skal Labissiere and Isaiah Briscoe have both been tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week once this season.
The Wildcats return to the court Tuesday at Florida for a 7 p.m. game against the Gators on ESPN.
