The high school basketball postseason all-star circuit is in Portland, Ore., this week for Saturday’s Nike Hoop Summit, which will feature two University of Kentucky signees and three more players with scholarship offers from the Wildcats.
UK signees De’Aaron Fox and Wenyen Gabriel will represent Team USA, which also includes five-star post players Jarrett Allen and Marques Bolden, who are both still on the Cats’ recruiting radar for the class of 2016.
Another UK signee, Bam Adebayo, was originally chosen to play in the game, but he pulled out of the event to concentrate on his high school studies. Adebayo, Fox, Gabriel, Bolden and UK signee Malik Monk will play in next weekend’s Jordan Brand Classic game in Brooklyn.
Also appearing in Saturday’s Hoop Summit will be DeAndre Ayton, who is regarded as the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2017. Ayton — a 7-footer from the Bahamas — will represent the World team. He plays his high school ball in Arizona and has consistently listed UK among his top schools.
Other top recruits in the event include Duke signees Jayson Tatum and Frank Jackson , Kansas commitment Udoka Azubuike, and No. 1 overall prospect Josh Jackson, who has narrowed his list to Arizona, Kansas and Michigan State.
The Nike Hoop Summit will be televised live at 3 p.m., Saturday on ESPN2.
