Marques Bolden, the University of Kentucky’s top remaining recruiting target in the class of 2016, is scheduled to appear on ESPNU’s Signing Day Special program Wednesday, the Herald-Leader has learned.

Bolden is one of several high school basketball recruits and college coaches booked for the 90-minute show Wednesday, the first day of the late signing period. As of Tuesday evening, there was no indication that Bolden is planning to announce his college decision on the TV special, which starts at 5:30 p.m. He will be interviewed on the show.

The player’s father, Melvin Bolden, told the Herald-Leader earlier Tuesday that his son still did not have a specific date for his college announcement. Marques Bolden told the Herald-Leader at the McDonald’s All-American Game last month in Chicago that he planned to announce his decision no later than April 17, which is Sunday.

Bolden — a 6-foot-10 center from DeSoto, Texas — has narrowed his choices to UK and Duke, and whichever program he chooses is likely to end up with the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2016 cycle.

UK Coach John Calipari visited with Bolden a few days before he left for the McDonald’s Game. Duke coaches traveled to Texas on Sunday night to meet with Bolden and his family.

Bolden will play in the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn on Friday night. That game will be shown live at 8 p.m. on ESPN2 and also includes UK signees Bam Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox, Wenyen Gabriel and Malik Monk.

The only other high school senior currently being recruited by UK is Texas post player Jarrett Allen, who has not set a date for his college announcement.
