Funeral set for former UK basketball player Ed Davender

Funeral services for former University of Kentucky basketball player Ed Davender will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Bracktown.

A visitation will precede the funeral at the church from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.

Former UK player Rex Chapman said he and fellow former Davender teammate Kenny Walker would speak and serve as pallbearers at the service.

Davender died late Thursday night after suffering a massive heart attack two days earlier. He was 49.

Donations to the Ed Davender Memorial Fund are being accepted at all Central Bank locations.

Davender played for the Wildcats from the 1984-85 season through 1987-88. He was the only player in UK history with more than 1,500 points and 400 assists.
