Former Kentucky star Rhyne Howard named to second WNBA All-Star game
Former Kentucky star Rhyne Howard was named to the WNBA All-Star game Tuesday, marking the second time in her two-year career she will play in the annual showcase.
Howard, who plays for the Atlanta Dream, will replace Washington Mystics’ injured forward Elena Delle Donne on the Team Wilson roster. Howard is just the fourth player in Dream franchise history to be named to multiple All-Star games.
The No. 1 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft and 2022 Rookie of the Year, Howard ranks 10th in the league in scoring (18.7 points per game). During Atlanta’s current five-game winning streak, Howard is averaging 24.2 points per game. She scored a career-high 42 points in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks on July 2.
Howard became the first former Kentucky Wildcat named to the WNBA All-Star game last season.
The 2023 WNBA All-Star game will be played in Las Vegas on Friday at 4 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.
