UK’s women’s basketball schedule revealed, with Oklahoma, Texas and a Music City Classic

Everything about Kentucky women’s basketball has undergone an offseason makeover.

The coaching staff. The roster. The home court.

Add to all that a new-look schedule for 2024-25 courtesy of the Southeastern Conference expanding from 14 to 16 teams with the additions of Oklahoma and Texas.

Kentucky’s 16-game conference schedule was revealed Wednesday when the SEC put forth the full league slate.

The Wildcats already knew they would host Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Texas in the newly renovated Memorial Coliseum. Now, new head coach Kenny Brooks and his new-look roster have dates to match.

Kentucky will also play at Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

The Wildcats were ranked No. 25 in the nation in the most recent release of ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25, joining No. 1 South Carolina, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 LSU, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 21 Alabama and No. 23 Ole Miss from the SEC.

Kentucky’s lone crack at defending champion South Carolina comes in the final game of the regular season March 2 at Columbia, S.C. UK has lost four in a row to Dawn Staley’s club since upsetting the Gamecocks in the championship game of the 2022 SEC Tournament.

Texas’ visit to Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 13 will mark only the third meeting of the programs and the first trip to UK for Texas women’s basketball. The Longhorns beat Kentucky in 2007 and 1978.

The Wildcats also get to play Alabama (Jan. 30) and LSU (Feb. 23) at home.

Kentucky’s fifth-ever meeting with Oklahoma is set for Feb. 2 in Norman, Okla., the Cats’ first-ever visit to OU. The Cats hold a 3-1 series advantage, having beaten OU in 2016-17, 2015-16 and 2014-15 after a loss in 2009-10. Kentucky’s game at Ole Miss is Feb. 10.

The Wildcats also finalized their nonconference schedule with Wednesday’s announcement, although two opponents remained unidentified for Kentucky’s trip to the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tennessee, on Nov. 26-27.

That 12-game non-league lineup also includes dates with No. 12 Louisville at home (Nov. 16) and at No. 17 North Carolina in the ACC/SEC Challenge (Dec. 5).

Kentucky will play 16 games at home this season, 10 on the road and two at a neutral site.
