Here’s the 2025 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament schedule
The inaugural season for the new-look Southeastern Conference has officially come to a close, and Kenny Brooks and the No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats have plenty to show for their efforts.
Kentucky (22-6, 11-5 SEC) solidified its fourth-place standing in the conference with its 82-58 drumming of No. 11 Tennessee on Thursday and held firm to that standing despite its 78-66 loss at No. 6 South Carolina in its regular-season finale on Sunday.
The Wildcats have also made a solid case to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee to receive hosting privileges in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
However, the Gamecocks (and several others throughout the conference) had seeding stakes on the line Sunday.
Due to South Carolina and No. 1 Texas each being responsible for the other’s sole loss, the Gamecocks and the Longhorns share the 2024-25 SEC regular-season championship. A coin flip by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey during the halftime of LSU vs. Ole Miss — the final league game of the day — determined the Gamecocks as the top-overall seed for this week’s conference tournament.
In a shocking upset, Tennessee fell 72-69 to unranked Georgia in Knoxville on Senior Day. With Vanderbilt’s 100-59 victory at Missouri — and the Commodores’ 71-70 win over the Lady Vols on Jan. 19 — Vandy successfully claimed both the No. 8 seed and the final available single-bye. Mississippi State also took care of business Sunday, beating Auburn 73-66 to take the No. 10 seed. No. 13 Oklahoma beat No. 20 Alabama 91-84 to earn the edge and, therefore, the No. 5 seed.
All SEC Tournament games will once again be played at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C., and take place between March 5-9. Teams finishing first through fourth in the league standings received a double-bye and will not play until Friday. Teams finishing fifth through eighth receive a single-bye and play their first games Thursday.
