Live updates: Kentucky women’s basketball vs. Liberty in NCAA Tournament

Follow along Friday afternoon as Herald-Leader staff writer Caroline Makauskas provides live updates from Memorial Coliseum, where the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team is taking on Liberty in its 2025 NCAA Tournament opener.

The game was to be broadcast live on ESPN starting at noon.

Kentucky’s showdown with Liberty was the first of two NCAA Tournament games scheduled to be played in Memorial Coliseum on Friday. Kansas State was to take on Fairfield at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The winners of Friday’s games square off Sunday in Lexington with a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 at stake.

Kentucky is the No. 4 seed in NCAA Tournament Spokane Regional 4. Liberty is the No. 13 seed, Kansas State the No. 5 and Fairfield the No. 12.

Kentucky brought a 22-7 record into Friday’s matchup. Liberty was 26-6.
