Winter storm warning moves Kentucky-Georgia women’s basketball game
Winter Storm Fern has caused a myriad of changes to this weekend’s college sports slate, and Kentucky women’s basketball is the latest to be impacted.
The Wildcats (17-4, 4-3 SEC), originally scheduled to host Georgia on Sunday afternoon, will now face the Bulldogs a day earlier than planned. The game has been moved up to Saturday at 1 p.m. in anticipation of the winter weather, UK announced Friday.
The game will now be broadcast on SEC Network+, as opposed to its originally scheduled SEC Network broadcast.
Kentucky’s matchup with Georgia will still be played at Memorial Coliseum, and all tickets purchased for Sunday’s original contest will remain valid for the new game time.
The news comes less than 24 hours after UK Athletics announced that Kentucky men’s basketball’s game against Ole Miss at Rupp Arena Saturday was moved up to 11 a.m. That game was originally scheduled for noon Saturday.
Fans with a ticket to Kentucky-Ole Miss can show that ticket in order to receive free admission to the women’s game against Georgia, UK announced Friday.
Doors for the women’s game will open at noon. Limited concessions will be available for purchase, only on the Lexington Avenue side of the Coliseum.
Parking details will remain the same, and UK Athletics has made shuttle transportation available for fans from both the Cornerstone Garage and the High Street Lot. Shuttles begin 90 minutes ahead of the start of the game, and will pause upon the conclusion of the first quarter, before resuming at the start of the third quarter, and continue until one hour after the game ends.
Kentucky’s game against the Bulldogs serves as an opportunity for the Wildcats to bounce back from back-to-back losses, first at Mississippi State Jan. 18, and then at rival Tennessee on Thursday night.
