Veteran squad is UK women's first road test
Kentucky will be the highest ranked team to ever play at Millett Hall when the No. 9 Wildcats travel to Oxford, Ohio, on Sunday for a women's basketball tilt with the Miami RedHawks.
It will be the first road test for Kentucky (1-0), which won its season opener 82-48 over Morehead State on Friday.
"It's always a challenge to see how a young team will react in their first game on the road," UK Coach Matthew Mitchell said. "We were pleased to get a victory on Friday over Morehead State but we clearly have a lot to improve on. With four starters back from last season we expect Miami to be a much-improved team. It will be a tough atmosphere and it's always difficult to win on the road."
Those returners include last year's Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and third-team All-MAC member Courtney Osborn.
Sunday is Miami's season opener; it defeated Tiffin University in its lone exhibition game. Last year's squad finished 9-22 overall, and 6-10 in conference play.
