Kentucky linebacker Roland Walder, who was a redshirt freshman this past season, announced his plans to transfer on Monday.

Walder, who is from Dayton, Ohio, thanked the UK football staff “for their talks and life lessons all throughout my first year of college. After talking with my family I will be transferring to further my education and football career somewhere else.”

Walder, listed at 6-foot-3 and 228 pounds, was ranked as the No. 29 inside linebacker nationally in the class of 2016 and the No. 32 prospect overall in Ohio, according to the 247Sports. He was rated as the No. 40 middle linebacker nationally by Rivals.

He played at Trotwood-Madison in high school. According to UK, Walder chose the Cats over Nebraska, Purdue, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Pittsburgh and Toledo.
