Louisville’s starting and backup quarterbacks will be available at Kentucky
University of Louisville quarterbacks Micale Cunningham and Evan Conley are expected to be available for the Cardinals’ game at Kentucky on Saturday.
A Louisville spokesperson refuted speculation that Cunningham and Conley would miss this year’s Governor’s Cup game due to illness. The school said that Cunningham, the team’s starting quarterback, would start.
Cunningham has thrown for 1,704 yards and 19 touchdowns on 89 of 144 passing with only 4 interceptions. He’s rushed for 374 yards and 6 TDs this season.
Conley has played in six games this year, throwing for 582 yards, 4 TDs and 3 interceptions on 36 of 63 passing.
Wide receiver Tutu Atwell and kicker Ryan Chalifoux are the only other available U of L players who have thrown a pass this year. Atwell, a wildcat threat at times, is 0-for-2 and has rushed for 24 yards on 8 carries. Chalifoux has thrown one pass, a 7-yard TD completion out of a fake field goal formation.
Atwell is U of L’s leading receiver this season with 1,068 yards and 11 TDs on 56 receptions.
Jawon Pass, Louisville’s starting quarterback coming into the 2019 season, had season-ending surgery in October. Cunningham succeeded him as the starter prior to the surgery.
