Kentucky football a long shot to win national championship in 2020 season.
Seven teams from the Southeastern Conference have separated themselves from the pack heading into 2020, as far as Las Vegas is concerned.
Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino’s Superbook — which touts itself as the largest in the world — started accepting futures bets for the 2021 college football national championship game winner prior to Monday night’s title bout between Clemson and LSU.
Clemson was its opening favorite at 9-4 odds. Ohio State followed — 3-1 — with SEC stalwarts Alabama (6-1), Georgia (8-1) and LSU (8-1) rounding out the top five.
Florida (14-1) had the next-best odds among SEC teams. Both Texas A&M and Auburn were listed with 30-1 odds while Tennessee opened at 100-1.
A hodgepodge of league teams were among those listed at 500 to 1 — meaning a bet of $100 would win $500 (in addition to the return of your original $100). Kentucky opened in that mix along with Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri and South Carolina.
Cincinnati and Louisville also opened with 500-1 odds, as did Purdue and West Virginia, both of whom are coached by Kentuckians (Jeff Brohm at Purdue, Neal Brown at WVU).
Arkansas and Vanderbilt opened at 1,000-1.
