UK football coordinators Eddie Gran and Brad White get raises. See what they’ll make.
University of Kentucky football co-offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and defensive coordinator Brad White have each received contract extensions and raises.
Both men signed new agreements with the university less than a year after their most recent amendments. White, who was named defensive coordinator in February 2019, signed his new deal on Jan. 10, 2020. Gran signed his new agreement on Dec. 16, 2019, about 10 months after signing his most recent contract.
Gran, an offensive coordinator at UK since 2016 who also coaches the Wildcats’ running backs, received a one-year extension. During that season (2022), his base compensation will rise to $79,167 ($950,000 annually) from the monthly rate of $72,916.67 ($875,000 annually) he was paid in 2019 and will be paid through the 2021 season.
White, who’s in his third year with the program coaching outside linebackers and entering his second as defensive coordinator, received a two-year extension and an immediate pay bump. His base compensation through June 2021 is $71,916.67 ($875,000) annually, up from the monthly rate of $52,083.33 ($625,000) he made last season. White’s pay is scheduled to increase twice more after June 2021, to $900,000 annually for the 2021 season and $925,000 annually for the 2022 season.

Clauses related to bonuses and voluntary early termination of the contracts remained as they were previously. If either coach were to leave UK for another coaching position during the term length agreed to during their contract, they would owe UK $150,000 per year remaining on the agreement.
An appearance in a postseason bowl results in a bonus of one month’s salary, an appearance in the Southeastern Conference championship game results in a bonus of one and a half month’s salary and an appearance in the College Football Playoff results in a bonus of two-months salary. Those bonuses are non-cumulative: If UK plays Alabama in the SEC championship game and then plays in a bowl game unrelated to the College Football Playoff, the coaches would receive only the bonus for making the SEC title game.
UK finished 8-5 in the 2019 season and ended its campaign with a 37-30 win over Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl. It was the program’s fourth consecutive appearance in a bowl game, the second-longest streak in school history, and its second straight win in a postseason game. The Wildcats ranked No. 14 nationally in total defense (324.4 yards per game) and points allowed (19.3 points per game) and fourth nationally in total rushing (279.1 yards per game) in 2019.
