The Southeastern Conference announced Friday that all athletics activities — including practices and other organized gatherings — will be suspended through at least April 15 due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus.

Previously the SEC suspended competition through March 30 but was allowing programs to hold practices. The extension through mid-April now includes practices, effectively canceling the spring football season at every school.

The University of Kentucky’s Blue-White scrimmage was scheduled for April 11. It is not known whether that event will be allowed to occur at a later date.

UK’s on-campus combine for NFL scouts was scheduled for March 27. That also has been postponed, a UK spokesperson said.

Member schools “will continue to provide their student-athletes with care and support to meet needs in areas including academics, medical care, mental health and wellness, nutrition and housing as needed,” according to a release from the SEC.
