One sports book believes Kentucky vs. Louisville is anybody’s ball game in 2020
The college football season is months away from starting, and the University of Kentucky’s annual bout with Louisville on the gridiron is even further away, but that won’t keep oddsmakers from letting you bet on it.
BetOnline, an online sportsbook, shared opening betting lines on high-profile college football rivalries with reporters on Monday. UK’s game at Louisville opened as a pick ’em, with the money line for both teams set at -105 (meaning you must bet $105 to win $100). Bettors can place a maximum wager of $1,000.
The game is scheduled for Nov. 28 at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. UK has won each of the last two games in the Governor’s Cup series by sizable margins: 45-13 in Lexington last season and 56-10 in Louisville in 2018. Kentucky leads the all-time series 17-15.
Also of note: Kentucky is one of only 29 teams listed as a team eligible for selection on BetOnline’s “odds to win the 2021 College Football Playoffs” board. The Wildcats are listed at +9000 (bet $100 to win $9,000), ahead of Iowa State, Nebraska, Utah, Iowa and BYU. Clemson is listed as the favorite a +275 with Ohio State (+400) and Alabama (+550) on its tail.
Louisville isn’t listed on the CFP futures but does have two players listed on BetOnline’s Heisman Trophy odds. Wide receivers Chartarius “Tutu” Atwell and Javian Hawkins are both listed at +6600. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is the slight favorite (+450) over Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence (+475).
Kentucky’s 2020 season is scheduled to kick off against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 5.
