Former Kentucky college football stars featured in ‘Madden 21’ reveal trailer
The trailer for “Madden 21,” the latest entry in Electronic Arts’ popular NFL video game series, dropped Tuesday, and former standouts who made names for themselves in Kentucky were front and center.
Lamar Jackson, the reigning league MVP, is this year’s box-art cover athlete and his character is featured prominently throughout the trailer. The former Louisville Cardinal last year threw for 3,217 yards and 36 touchdowns and rushed for 1,206 yards and seven scores. He led the Baltimore Ravens to a 14-2 record in the regular season.
Two former Kentucky Wildcats also got prominent virtual screen time. Green Bay Packers star Za’Darius Smith was shown as part of a sequence promoting “new pass-rush control” in the game, while Jacksonville Jaguars standout Josh Allen can be seen celebrating a big play during a scene demonstrating increased player control over celebrations.
Allen in his rookie season with the Jaguars started four games and played in all 16. He forced two fumbles, recorded 10.5 sacks, 23 quarterback hits and totaled 44 tackles.
Smith, who signed with the Packers entering 2019 after four seasons in Baltimore, had 13.5 sacks, 55 total tackles and 37 quarterback hits.
