Watch: Kentucky’s Terry Wilson looks fast, smooth in video from sprint workout

University of Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson provided another progress report on his recovery from knee surgery Wednesday, and it’s hard not to be impressed.

Wilson, who was lost for the season after tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee during Kentucky’s second game of 2019, posted a video of himself from a workout at UK in which he’s conducting a high-stepping run over mini-hurdles followed by an all-out sprint.

To the untrained eye, Wilson looks to be performing at full speed with no hitch in his stride. Of course, the true test of any knee recovery is the ability to change speed and direction and absorb contact, but the quarterback believes he’s progressing appropriately toward Kentucky’s season opener Sept. 3 against Eastern Michigan at Kroger Field.

“I can finally say I’m back!” Wilson tweeted Saturday. “And healthy!! Been a long road.”

Wilson completed 180 of 268 passes for 1,889 yards with 11 TDs and eight interceptions in leading Kentucky to a 10-3 record and a Citrus Bowl win in 2018.

In two games last season, Wilson completed 33 of 52 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns.

Wilson told the Herald-Leader’s Josh Moore last month that he had no doubt he’d be ready in time for the start of the season.

“I’ve been putting in so much work just to be able to get back running and do all the little things,” Wilson said. “I’ve put in so much work and my confidence level is raising. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll be 100% ready for the season right before camp.”

And, now, we have video proof.
