Sons of NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis transferring to the University of Kentucky
The University of Kentucky football team picked up two notable transfers, and one of them will be able to play right away.
Rahsaan and Rayshad Lewis, the sons of former Baltimore Ravens star and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, announced Wednesday night that they’re transferring to Kentucky.
Rayshad, who is transferring from Maryland, will have one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer. He spent the last three seasons with the Terrapins, for whom he most recently was a receiver (he’s also played defensive back). Rayshad — 5-foot-10, 177 pounds — played in 10 games last season, recording three catches for 13 yards in addition to special teams duty.
Prior to his time at Maryland, Rayshad spent one season at Utah State, where he started seven games and ranked second on the team in receptions (40) and receiving yards (476). Current UK wide receivers coach Jovon Bouknight, hired in the offseason, was the receivers coach at Utah State while Rayshad was part of that program.
Rahsaan began his career at Central Florida before transferring to Florida Atlantic. He too is a receiver but did not make any receptions for the Owls in four games last season as a sophomore walk-on. He played in seven games at UCF in 2018, totaling four tackles in seven games at defensive back.
Ray Lewis spent the entirety of his 17-year-long career with the Ravens, with whom he won two Super Bowls. He was named to 13 Pro Bowl teams, was a 10-time All-Pro, two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and was MVP of Super Bowl 35. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2018.
