Wan’Dale Robinson sets UK’s all-time receptions record in Kentucky-Louisville game
Wan’Dale Robinson set the single-season record for receptions in Kentucky’s football game against Louisville on Saturday night.
Robinson came into the game with 85 catches on the season, needing five receptions to tie James Whalen’s program-best mark of 90 receptions. Robinson hauled in his sixth catch of the game — and record-setting 91st of the season — midway through the second quarter..
Whalen had 90 catches in 1999, and he, Craig Yeast and Randall Cobb were the only Kentucky players ever with more than 80 receptions in a season until Robinson did it this year. Yeast holds the program record with 1,311 receiving yards in a season. Robinson came into Saturday night’s game with 1,067 yards, so he has a chance at breaking that record, as well.
Robinson — a former high school star at Western Hills in Frankfort — started his college career at Nebraska before transferring to UK before this season.
