Franklin County running back Kaden Moorman decommits from Kentucky football’s 2023 class
Kentucky football’s 2023 recruiting class lost a local standout Friday.
Franklin County running back Kaden Moorman, who initially committed to UK in October 2021 and had been a vocal presence on social media in helping attract other prospects to the class, announced Friday he was decommitting with the intention of taking all five of his official visits to consider his options.
“Kentucky could still be a landing spot,” Moorman tweeted.
Moorman was voted as the top player in the state by Kentucky high school coaches in August but has not matched his 2021 production as a senior.
As a junior, Moorman rushed for 1,447 yards and 27 touchdowns. This season, he ranks third on Franklin County’s team in rushing yards (244) with five touchdowns. He has played in five of Franklin County’s eight games. Moorman tweeted in September he had been playing through a partial tear in his ankle since the first week of the season.
Kentucky has one other running back committed in its 2023 class, three-star Alabama prep star Kahlifa Keith. Keith’s commitment could also be in flux though as he has taken two visits to Tennessee this fall and recently picked up a scholarship offer from South Carolina.
UK hosted three-star Georgia prep running back Jamarion Wilcox for an official visit over the weekend. Wilcox also reports offers from Clemson, Louisville, Purdue, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, Indiana and others.
Adding multiple running backs to the class could be important for Kentucky with three senior running backs, including star Chris Rodriguez, on the 2022 roster. The Wildcats could also look to the transfer portal to boost the position.
Moorman did not announce where he plans to take official visits. He reported offers from Wisconsin and Toledo when he committed to Kentucky but it is unclear if those schools are still pursuing him.
