Tim Couch’s son lands scholarship offer from Kentucky football for 2024 class
The son of one of the best players in Kentucky football history will have the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Lexington Christian defensive lineman Chase Couch, son of UK Hall of Famer and former NFL Draft No. 1 pick Tim Couch, landed a verbal scholarship offer from the Wildcats on Friday. Chase is a member of the high school class of 2024.
“Blessed and Honored to have received an offer from the University of Kentucky,” Chase tweeted Friday.
Tim followed that post with a reply telling his son he was proud and urging him to keep working hard.
As a junior at LCA, Chase totaled 21 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack to earn second-team All-City honors from the Herald-Leader. A 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end, Chase helped LCA reach the Class 2A semifinals.
Tim starred at Kentucky from 1996 to 1998. He was named SEC Player of the Year and a first-team All-American as a junior before declaring for the 1999 NFL Draft, where the expansion Cleveland Browns drafted him with the first pick. Tim, who spent five years in the NFL, still holds the two highest passing yards totals in a single season in UK history.
In 2012, Couch served on the search committee that helped bring Mark Stoops to Lexington as Kentucky’s coach.
