Kentucky football lands commitment from Boyle County star, one of state’s top playmakers
One of the most dynamic playmakers in Kentucky high school football will stay home for college after all.
Boyle County star Montavin Quisenberry announced Wednesday he was flipping his commitment from West Virginia to Kentucky. UK first offered Quisenberry a scholarship in October 2022, but did not seem to be prioritizing Quisenberry when he committed to West Virginia, coached by Boyle County alumnus Neal Brown, in June.
A stellar start to his senior season appears to have been enough to convince UK coaches to go all-in on Quisenberry.
Through seven games Quisenberry has totaled 439 rushing yards, 492 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. He has also returned a punt for a touchdown and thrown one touchdown pass. Quisenberry gained national attention this season when he rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns, caught six passes for 64 yards, completed both his pass attempts for 89 yards and one touchdown and returned an interception 66 yards in an upset of three-time defending Ohio state champion St. Edward.
Despite his eye-popping stats, Quisenberry faces lingering questions about how his production will translate to college because of his diminutive size. The 247Sports composite rates him as a three-star wide receiver.
Quisenberry lists his height at 5-foot-10 on his social media profiles, but 247Sports lists him at 5-foot-9 and Rivals lists him at 5-foot-8.
Quisenberry is the fourth Kentucky High School senior to join UK’s 2025 class, following Western Hills defensive lineman Javeon Campbell, Paducah Tilghman safety Martels Carter and Frederick Douglass edge rusher Cedric Works.
The 247Sports Composite ranks UK’s class 21st nationally.
