Kentucky safety Jordan Lovett arrested after allegedly racing on Bluegrass Parkway
Kentucky junior safety Jordan Lovett was arrested in Nelson County this week after allegedly racing another car on the Bluegrass Parkway.
According to an arrest citation, both cars were clocked by a state police officer at 120 mph before Lovett stopped the vehicle he was driving shortly after 10 p.m. on Dec. 30. The officer requested additional units look for the second car after stopping Lovett, but the arrest citation does not indicate if the other vehicle was found.
Lovett was charged with speeding of at least 26 mph over the limit, reckless driving and failure to produce an insurance card. He was also charged with possession of marijuana after the officer located marijuana in the vehicle.
The football program is aware of the arrest and handling the situation internally, according to a UK spokesperson.
Monday’s arrest was not the first time Lovett has been charged with speeding-related offenses. In May 2021 he was also stopped on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County for driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. In October 2021, UK police stopped Lovett for driving 54 mph in a 25 mph zone on South Limestone.
A fourth-year junior, Lovett started every game for Kentucky in 2024. He ranked second on the team with 63 tackles and added two interceptions. The North Hardin High School graduate is expected to be one of the veteran leaders on Kentucky’s 2025 defense.
At least one other Kentucky football player faced legal charges in the state in December.
Freshman wide receiver Hardley Gilmore, who entered the transfer portal over the weekend and reportedly will transfer to Nebraska, was charged on Dec. 7 with misdemeanor assault after allegedly punching someone in the face at a storage unit in downtown Lexington.
