Kentucky’s top college football recruit will be heading out of the state.
On Saturday night, class of 2027 tight end Seneca Driver from Boyle County High School in Danville committed to Oklahoma, picking the Sooners over the likes of Kentucky and Notre Dame, among other schools.
Driver — who plays tight end and linebacker at Boyle County — is ranked as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite. Driver is ranked by that service as the No. 56 recruit in the nation from the 2027 class and as the top prospect from the commonwealth.
The 6-foot-6 Driver, who is now the 18th member of Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting group, first received a UK scholarship offer in February 2024, when Mark Stoops led the Kentucky program.
After Will Stein took over as UK’s head coach this offseason, the Cats were considered one of the favorites to land a commitment from Driver. In February, Rivals recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Kentucky to get Driver’s college commitment.
But the Sooners won out in his recruitment. Part of this could be attributed to Driver’s future position coach at OU. In January, Oklahoma hired former NFL All-Pro tight end Jason Witten as its next tight ends coach.
Driver was the 2025 Class 4A player of the year in Kentucky. His Boyle County team romped to the Class 4A state championship, with Driver earning championship MVP honors after tallying two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a 34-0 win over Franklin County.
Bryan Station star Jordan Haskins commits to Louisville
Driver’s commitment to Oklahoma is the second piece of sizable Central Kentucky college football recruiting news in recent days.
On Friday, Bryan Station junior safety Jordan Haskins committed to Louisville. The 5-foot-11 Haskins is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as a four-star prospect and as the fifth-best class of 2027 recruit in the commonwealth. Haskins picked U of L over offers from Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Virginia Tech.
A three-sport athlete, Hawkins played on both sides of the ball for the Defenders last season. He also plays basketball and runs track and field for Bryan Station. Haskins is now the eighth commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle for Louisville and head coach Jeff Brohm.
Bryan Station’s head coach is Haskins’ father, J.T. Haskins Sr., who played defensive back for Louisville from 2000-03. Jordan’s uncle Robert Haskins also played at Louisville.
