Two Kentucky players named to SEC’s All-Freshman Football Team
Tight end C.J. Conrad and defensive back Chris Westry were among 23 players named Thursday to the Southeastern Conference’s 16th annual All-Freshman Football Team.
Voting was conducted by the league’s 14 head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Alabama and Texas A&M led the league with four selections each to the team. Kentucky was among six teams with two or more choices.
Conrad started nine of Kentucky’s 12 games, catching 15 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown. Westry, who started all12 games, made two interceptions and had 23 tackles.
Texas A&M's Christian Kirk, who was named the 2015 SEC Freshman of the Year on Wednesday, earned three selections on the team, placing as a wide receiver, all-purpose player and return specialist. Kirk is the first player in SEC history to receive three spots on the All-SEC Freshman Team.
